columbus day?

Hey, why didn't anyone remind me to celebrate Columbus Day? By the way, what exactly did Columbus do? Is this he of the 3 borrowed ship fame, the Ninta, Pinta and Santa Maria or some such that he got from the Queen of England? Didn't he have something to do with helping locate a piece of real estate we now call America? Or at least some of the islands we now own? Wonder just how many school kids that got a day off thanks to ol' Chris (not Krengle) would even know what he did. Ah, life must have been so much easier back in his day. Borrow some ships and money to man them (didn't have to worry about hiring women back then) and sail off into the vast unknown! "Land Ho!" (where did they land, the streets of Compton?) the sailor shouted, and the rest is history! Well, it is all history right? Hey there went another second of my life into history! Slow down history, I am running out of time as it is!
